Hello friends, my long-held dream is coming true. I’m going to backpack for the first time around ten European countries for a month, starting next Monday.
My tentative itinerary:
Italy (Milan – Turin) – France (Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur region) – Monaco – Spain (Barcelona) – Belgium (Brussels and Bruges) – The Netherlands (Amsterdam) – Czech Republic (Prague) – Poland (Krakow) – Hungary (Budapest) – Austria (Vienna) – Italy (Milan)
G may join me for a weekend in Barcelona, but other than that, I want to go solo and make sure I’ll learn as much as possible through local people and authentic experiences. These are the tools I use to prep for the trip:
- Couch-surfing: cheap stays (or meet-ups) with the locals
- AirB&B and Hostelworld: alternative options of budget stays
- Visit a city: downloadable & customised itineraries
- Evenbrite: fun events/festivals/free walking tours
Some students in Turin already accepted my request for a couch, they have a spare sofa bed in the kitchen, I’m sure it’ll be very comfortable. I also messaged a few hosts in Nice, let’s wait and see. There’s still a lot to be done and think about: what to pack, where to keep money, who to reach out in case of emergency, etc. But I’ve quitted my Comms program and have all the time in the world. Everything will be just fine.
Join me anyone? Any tips to share too? Only five more days to go.
